NYC Day 1

This past weekend my parents and I flew up to New York City for the Smart Girls' Group Live Smart Conference (that was a mouthful). We went one day early so I could have some time to explore the city since I would be at the conference almost all day for the next three days. The last time we visited, we had no idea where we were going and ended up wandering in circles and mainly staying in the East Midtown area, so this time I made sure to go to some new areas of Manhattan.
We arrived around lunchtime, so we took a cab to Madison Square Park to go to the original Shake Shack. There must have been at least 150 people in line in front of us, but it was well worth the wait. I had pretty high expectations after seeing a gazillion-and-one Instagram pictures of other people preaching about how amazing it was, but everything was so good. I got a burger and fries, and I'm usually not the biggest milkshake fan, but a Hopscotch Concrete was perfect for the warm day.

The park is just across the street from the Flatiron building, so we walked around the area and did some shopping. The Brooks Brothers Flatiron shop exclusively sells their Red Fleece line (which is geared towards younger people) and has a really awesome antique-filled interior.
(P.S. Brooks Brothers has an amazing sale happening right now!!)

Then we ventured through Eataly and wished we hasn't just eaten- all the food looked so amazing.

We ended up walking all the way to Union Square Park and then over to Greenwich Village, so my dad and I treated ourselves to popsicles at Popbar. Every flavor looked so good, but the watermelon sorbet was so refreshing.

While walking around Greenwich Village, I spotted the Saint James store and couldn't resist going in (striped shirt heaven)! I picked up a short sleeve sailor shirt (here) and have already worn it three times…oops.

After that we took a cab back to the hotel and grabbed a quick dinner by Rockefeller Center before getting ready for the conference that started the next day.
