This Week 6/5/16

Earlier this week I posted a reader survey (you can take it here) and had an overwhelming request for more lifestyle posts and to talk more about what is going on in my life. In the past I have been hesitant about posting more personal things online simply for privacy reasons and because I thought my life was not exciting enough to make them interesting to read. However, now I think doing a weekly post like this will be a good way for y'all to get to know me better and have a post you can look forward to each week. Another thing a few of y'all mentioned was that you wished I had more regular posts on a schedule and I do too! School is always a priority for me and I always value quality over quantity so that is why my posts have been a little scattered in the past few months. Now that I am finally on summer break I will have more time to dedicate to better and more regular posts :)

I don't know if this is just my friends and I, but it seems like each season we make a list of all the activities we want to do and never follow through with a single one of them. However, summer has barely started and we've already done one of the things on our list (I'm so proud of us)! We drove out to the farm we usually go to but we didn't see a single person there.... of course the one time we try to do anything it's not even open... but on the way back home we found a smaller farm and were able to pick some of the last strawberries of the season. We made chocolate covered strawberries while watching the DCOM marathon and they were way better than anything we could've bought at the grocery store. (Typical me ruining anything that could be healthy by coating it with chocolate.... :)

Last week's Sunday brunch must be documented. My parents and I had been meaning to try out the restaurant Fork! after hearing so many good things about it and I am so glad we finally did because I was able to indulge in the decadence that is a chicken & waffles sandwich. Chicken & waffles is my absolute favorite meal and this is definitely one of my new favorite spots for it.

I also had my first NASCAR experience in quite a few years. My friend invited me to go along with her to the Coca-Cola 600 and while the weather didn't cooperate for a while, it was such a fun experience. The highlights of the night: the people watching, the butter pecan funnel cake, and seeing Lee Brice perform!

As for what I've been binge-watching on Netflix lately, I have been obsessed with Spanish dramas. A while back we had to watch a couple episodes of a Spanish show for an AP Spanish assignment and a bunch of my friends and I got hooked on this show Grand Hotel. I already watched the whole series on Netflix, am almost done with a similar show, Velvet, and already have my next show lined up. So many of my friends and I watch these shows and one of my friends who doesn't even take Spanish is watching it too (don't worry there are English subtitles :)! There is so much scandal and drama in these shows I could go on about them for hours!!

I took my last two finals this week and am officially done with high school! It doesn't feel like I'm actually done andI just keep thinking I'm going to school again tomorrow morning. It's going to be nice to have some time to just hang out and not have to worry about finals as I prepare for graduation and the million graduation parties I'm going to next week! Also, my Grandparents sent me the cutest box of chocolates that came in a box shaped like a graduation cap! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa, I know you're reading this :)

Let me know if you like this style of post! I am planning on posting a weekly recap every Sunday evening.

Here's to a good first week of summer break,
